National debt threat to national security

Today the United Kingdom has many enemies - both seen and unseen. The threat from Al Qaeda and the Taliban is very real indeed - as I have witnessed first hand in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Our armed forces continue to do their country and themselves proud against a determined and motivated enemy.

However, an equally dangerous threat to our country's national security and well being, present within even the County's boundaries, is the huge mountain of national debt piled up by the current government. Britain's public sector borrowing requirement will be £90 Billion by 2010 - nearly double Gordon Brown's original forecast. If a company or charity boss got their figures so wrong they would be fired. Perhaps Gordon Brown's backbenchers might yet fire him?

The size of Britain's national debt not only affects the level of public services we can expect in local schools and hospitals but will also impact on Britain's strategic and operational capability against terrorism - with the budgets of all three armed forces being squeezed tighter every year. Labour's mountain of debt is not good for anyone - either at home or abroad.

Britain now has to go cap in hand to foreign governments asking for financial hand outs. Gordon Brown's financial mismanagement of the economy means that Britain is now at the mercy of some countries whose values are sometimes diametrically opposed to the values upheld by Britain's unwritten Constitution.

Britain's place in the world and our international standing is diminished by the current rabble running the nation - who appear more interested in their own careers than the public good and the state of our nation.

The first duty of any government is to keep its citizens safe. By plunging Britain into huge debt Gordon Brown is not only exposing the population to financial risk - but possibly putting Britain at physical risk?
