EU Sugar Regime
Mark Pritchard expressed his concerns at the proposed changes to the sugar regime - in particular the drop in reference price. He then went on to raise the issue of diversification, highlighting bioethanol as a new outlet for sugar beet. He urged the Government to offer financial incentives to encourage the use of bioethanol cars as bioethanol produces at least 50% of the carbon emissions produced by petrol.
