Mark Pritchard expressed his concerns at the proposed changes to the sugar regime - in particular the drop in reference price. He then went on to raise the issue of diversification, highlighting bioethanol as a new outlet for sugar beet. He urged the Government to offer financial incentives to encourage the use of bioethanol cars as bioethanol produces at least 50% of the carbon emissions produced by petrol. full story

Racial and Religious Hatred Bill

Mark Pritchard speaks in the debate on the Racial and Religious Hatred Bill. He raises his concerns that the Bill will curb centuries of freedom of speech. He highlights the missionary nature of major religions, such as Islam and Christianity, and as such the requirement that people of those faiths engage in debate with others. He argues that the discussion of religious ideals and concepts, both oral and written, need to exist without fear of prosecution. full story
