Supporting Our Local NHS

I meet regularly with Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, to discuss new investment in hospital services at the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford.

The Future Fit Programme for Shropshire has been designed by over 300 local doctors, senior nurses and medical practitioners and has been welcomed by both the Chief Executive of Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust and the Chair of the Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group.  As a result, the PRH will retain its A&E service and will become the new centre of excellence for planned surgery with huge investment in staff and new high-tech equipment.

It is good news that an A&E service will be staying in Telford.  I asked the Health Secretary to ensure that Telford's A&E is well staffed and provides the very best care for Telford and Wrekin residents.  He has given me that assurance and the A&E Local at PRH will be part of the extra £312 million investment at the Trust.
