Mark Pritchard MP Farming Agriculture

Agriculture has the highest rates of injury and ill health of any industry sector.

I asked the Minister of State for Food, Farming and Fisheries what work he is doing with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to reduce deaths and accidents on farms.

In response, the Minister said that the HSE is working with the farming industry to improve the management of risks on farms.

He also pointed out that the HSE’s website provides essential information and guidance on health and safety in agriculture, while the Farm Safety Foundation offers support to farmers to manage stress and mental health.

The agricultural sector has made many improvements to safety over the last two decades but much more can be done to reduce the number of deaths and injuries.
