Mark Pritchard MP Parkinsons UK

Today is World Parkinson’s Day 2023.

145,000 people in the UK have Parkinson’s Disease. It is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world and currently there is no cure.

According to Parkinson's UK, there are about 220 people with Parkinson's in The Wrekin constituency.

Last week in Parliament I met with Parkinson's UK representatives to learn more about the range of specialist health services which people with Parkinson's need to access - including occupational therapy, physio and speech therapy.

I am pleased that the Government continues to fund research into new treatments for neurodegenerative conditions like Parkinson's Disease, with £375 million committed between 2021 and 2026.
