I was pleased to meet with Shifnal Town Council today to discuss Shropshire's Local Plan.
Shifnal has taken its fair share of housing over recent years and I am working alongside the town council to protect Shifnal's diminishing Green Belt and open spaces.
Shropshire Council must fully consult Shifnal Town Council and parish councils in eastern parts of the county to ensure no major development is given the green light unless it has been approved as part of a wide and deep community consultation.
Affordable housing is needed, but should not be used as a Trojan Horse to bulldoze Shifnal's Green Belt.
At the meeting, we also discussed a range of other issues, including pressing Shropshire Council and Telford & Wrekin Council to reopen their recycling centres for Shifnal residents.
The recycling decision is arbitrary and unfair. It will lead to less recycling and more fly-tipping. Labour-led Telford & Wrekin Council needs to re-think this idea, which is bonkers and petty.
