In Parliament, Mark Pritchard MP asked the Business and Trade Ministers if they will publish an assessment of the potential impact of the new US-UK trade deal on the food manufacturing and processing sectors in Shropshire.

In 2024, food and drink trade between the West Midlands and the US was worth £68 million.

In response, the Ministers said "negotiations will continue on a range of areas and benefits will be felt over time".

Mark Pritchard MP said:

"I believe in free trade, so the UK-US trade deal is welcome, but the details will need to be fully scrutinised. The Government must ensure all sectors of Shropshire's economy benefit - and that opening the door to new businesses from the USA is a net benefit to Shropshire and the UK as a whole."
