September is 'Sepsis Awareness Month'.
Mark Pritchard MP was pleased to attend The UK Sepsis Trust event in Parliament, supported by Harry Redknapp and by Lord Mackinlay of Richborough, whose life-threatening episode of sepsis led to the amputation of his hands and feet in 2023.
Sepsis is a life-threatening condition which arises when the body's response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs. It can lead to shock, multiple organ failure and death if not recognised early and treated promptly.
48,000 people died of sepsis last year in the UK.
