After I was first elected as MP for the Wrekin in 2005, I offered work experience opportunities in my Wellington office to students from The Wrekin constituency. This experience gave young people an insight into the work of an MP and a chance to boost their skills by helping with the following tasks:
- Casework
- Political research
- Media monitoring
- Writing press releases
- Accompanying the MP to meetings or events in Parliament or in my constituency
- Assisting with office duties
- Answering queries from constituents by phone and email
As Parliament has been dissolved, I am no longer an MP. If I am re-elected, I will be happy to receive enquiries about work experience in my Wellington office.
